Fishing in America - what is it?
I’m showcasing a diverse selection of fishing stories told by everyday people, accompanied by an illustration of mine. I’ll publish it as a book when I reach 47 illustrations, an homage to the number of short stories in Richard Brautigan’s amazing 1967 book “Trout Fishing in America.”
Do you have a fishing story? If so, submit your words to SamRobertsonArt@gmail.com
Thanks for stopping by! More of my art can be found on MisterRobertson.com
Here’s my call for submissions:
Attention all fishers young and old, novice or expert, passionate or dabbler! This is a call for story submissions. I, Sam Robertson, want to illustrate YOUR fishing stories. FishingInAmerica.com has begun. Yes that domain was available, much to my delight.
I’m looking for a wide range of true stories that orbit around the world of fishing in America. I’m looking for surprise, humor, big emotions, fear, triumph, diverse experiences. I’m not looking for stories where you necessarily caught the biggest fish in the world. If the story you want to share only tangentially relates to a fishing experience you had, that’s just fine. You can push the boundaries of what fishing in America means. Your illustrated stories will be posted to this website, and when I get enough, I hope to self publish it as a book.
I will be funding this project personally. Accepted submissions will receive $25 immediately, and then if and when the book comes to fruition, you’ll get a copy. If I choose your story, I’ll send you over a short contract to get your consent. Stories should be no greater than 1500 words.
Lastly, my illustrations won’t have any actual likeness to anyone. If you’re unfamiliar with my previous illustrative work, you may check out www.MisterRobertson.com to see my style.
Thank you, I can’t wait to read people’s stories! Fish on!!
